With an average of over 300 days of sunshine per year, Carvoeiro is ideal for the sun-worshipper. There are 3 lovely beaches within walking distance of the village, including the spectacular rocks at Algar Seco, with several more only a short drive away.
The Algarve has some of the world's finest golf courses and Carvoeiro is no exception, with several within easy reach.
Amongst other things you can find in and around Carvoeiro are watersports - with a diving centre in the village. Bicycle hire and horse riding are also available. There is a children's playground, 2 water parks are nearby as is the Zoomarine marine centre, where you can swim with dolphins. In addition to Carvoeiro's own excellent shops there are extensive shopping areas at nearby Portimao and Guia.
For sightseeing, a short trip to the nearby historic town of Silves with its castle and 13th Century gothic church is highly recommended, as is the short trip to the wine centre of Lagoa or, slightly further afield, the tranquil Monchique mountains. There are also plenty of boat trips and excursions available from the village.
